Tomoko Sakumoto

The lines are not made afterwards, but are an integral part of the form.

The forms of Tomoko Sakumoto's work seem simple, just like the patterns she adds. That is an illusion: their combination creates a visual alienation. At the same time, she has taken on a technically almost impossible task. The work is constructed slice by slice, after having dedicated a lot of energy to finding solutions to the complex shape problems. This does not show in the end product, its form is pure and not artificial.
